Garazi Arana Oiarbide

PhD Student

Garazi is a first year PhD student from the AI4Health CDT. Her research involves the development of patient-centric interventions employing machine learning. She has an MRes in Experimental Neuroscience from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Glasgow.

Research Brief

Garazi’s research is looking at ways in which AI can improve the quality of life of people with dementia. Her project has three stages: 1- Understanding how the behavioural structure of cognitively-impaired people relates to standard cognitive assessments in order to generate passive diagnostics. 2- Building algorithms that can guide individuals in their daily activities in an automated manner. 3- Identifying deviation from normal behaviour and supporting the return to normality with the use of real-time cueing algorithms.
