Inigo Stibbe

PhD Student

Inigo is a PhD student funded by the UKRI AI Centre for Doctoral Training in Digital Healthcare. He has a background in physics, having completed an MSci at the University of Bristol, including a year abroad at the University of Copenhagen. During his studies, he specialised in machine learning and data science, culminating in a master’s project using transformer architectures for classification in particle physics. He is now interested in pursuing applied AI research and its real-world impact.

Research Brief

Healthcare data is particularly scarce and difficult to obtain, especially in paediatric intensive care settings. Synthetic data generation offers a way to address this challenge and enhance machine learning methods for downstream supervised and reinforcement learning tasks. Inigo’s research focuses on developing synergistic data generation techniques for tabular and time-series data, with a specific emphasis on capturing the causal relationships inherent in paediatric ICU data.
